My old PC died and I couldn't be bothered (have time) to fix it and it was a good excuse to upgrade anyway. I usually build them myself but I priced up some new PCs and compared the prices of parts to do it myself and found that the pre-built packages were cheaper. I didn't have an option of OS so it came with Vista Home Premium installed.

The only problems I had was in the initial few days when I found that some of my existing software wasn't compatible. I was advised to "upgrade to XP whistle " but after a quick surf round to the developers website a patch download soon fixed this. New drivers for existing hardware was also easy to find.

Since then I've had no problems at all. The only thing that I have noticed is a slightly longer boot time since I installed a Creative Technology Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card but now I know what's causing it I can live with it.

Microsoft has released details of the Vista Service Pack if you can make any sense of it:
