both. i started with VPS and the only reason i upgraded to Dedicated was that i personally preferred my own box and had the $ to do it.
The VPS was fine. All their Cpanels are now updated to the latest stuff, so it's very easy to even add in RoR (which i've done
).
Essentially, you get latest apache, php, mysql and a lot of other stuff that ubbthreads doesn't really need, but is cool for geeks
