You can always do what I am doing on my board and release something like this and give them a notice and a heads up at the same time.
MSN.com, Live.com, and HotMail.com have implemented some new security measures taking place mainly on MSN and Live sites. These upgrade are slated to be implemented fully in HotMail in the near future.
What the upgrade brings is a new feeling of security for the email user but a night mare for the providers or services mailing to users in the Microsoft realm. This upgrade is designed to stop ALL spam and regulated by the user email interface allowing for each user to tell Microsoft who spammers are. This is a great Idea but implemented poorly with the usual Microsoft flaws and oversights. The spam still makes it through but legit automated email from systems like ours get caught in the cross fire and allows for ANY user to black list our servers in their firewall.
If a newly registered user of ( Your Forum Name Here ) or even a past registered user decides they no longer wish to receive email from our automated system that includes Private Message notifications or even post notifications and elect to stop then using Microsoft's new system by clicking the "Not Safe" over changing their settings for those email notifications on our site here it will ban our entire server from sending email to every registered user on our system to their email clients.
In this case we would need to spend days of filling out forms and requests to Microsoft to have our server taken out of the banned list. This is not permanent as the next time some one clicks the "Not Safe" link once again we would have to start all over again to have our service cleared in the system to send out email to users on the Microsoft system.
The flaw is that the people sending all this spam email change servers per email volley as to evade this filter.
We at ( Your Forum Name Here ) and the ISP owner, ( Your ISP Name Here ), are not going to be wasting time with Microsoft on a weekly basis to continue to have our users receive email from our service to a Microsoft email address. We intend to not allow the use of any email address on those systems to be used in registration here at ( Your Forum Name Here ). Please remember that you must maintain a valid email address where we may reach you at any time per the TOS to remain active on our site.
Those of you currently using a Microsoft email address of such will need to find a new free email provider and update your current email address in our system to continue to receive email notifications from registrations and other services on or through our message board.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing our members from the stand point of large corporations not seeing the entire picture when it comes to spam email. We also do not condone spam email and are thankful for those companies that are taking efforts to stop or limit these practices thought the internet however, it would be great if the strive to stop spam email practices were designed not to hinder legit operations but actually help against spam email messages.
