I appreciate the "sanity check" on the $15/mo. solutions. I'll look into Future Hosting. Their managed solution for $80/mo seems to "only" include 1gb RAM at this point, but beyond that, it seems like a good place to look at as well.
They have specials listed at webhosting talk forums for double the ram (that's how I got 2gb) - there's probably one there now tho I haven't checked.
I chose managed because for a few bucks more a month I don't have to stay on top of it, someone else who's up all night is doing it for me
I ran a home server for a while... the lack of redundancy in connections, hardware (and support
