Okay, next logical question. Can the photo gallery alone be marked to not SHOW the posting until authorized by Mod or Admin ?
Not such an issue for many sites I'm sure, but with the amount of SPAM and PORN out there these days I'm sure some people are clueless and will post inappropriate material.
Well I mean on a per forum basis, not ALL forums as I think it currently works. Meaning that in general all posts are live and can be seen right away, but maybe for images allow the Admin to set that forum to only show the post once authorized.
That's what I'm referring to actually. There is the option when adding/editing a forum, to "Enable Full Post Moderation?", which should apply. Just need to double check.
Yeah, you can add descriptions for all file attachments. I should probably remove the "Description:" text when none is specified, or just make it "Description: None Supplied"
Those images would go good with this theme, just have to see how they look on the others, because they won't change
Right now it's just a setting for all non admins. 7.3 is where I'm going to expand the user group permissions, so that will go in then. I was going to do this for 7.2, but I basically need to write a lot of new code to make it as flexible as I want it to be.
Who me? lol... You've got to admit, that happening to just me, on two seperate installs, was just crazy... lol... I should try it on another machine too :x
Nope. An existing forum cannot be changed to a Gallery Forum. And a gallery forum cannot be changed to a regular forum.
They both function off a lot of the same code, but swapping from one to another just leads to a lot of issues, so forum types are locked in and exclusive.
Rick, when you release 7.2, do you include something that tells us which files have been modified? I usually only get the major releases, so I've not done an upgrade before. But this one is too good to pass up.
Essentially you just upload everything (except styles, includes etc.)
Between .x changes it might be worth re-doing your hacks if you have anything, however for .x.x changes I would probably alter the files first then upload anything.
At the moment there are some big changes in each .x release.
Thanks Mark and Ian. I guess what I'm nervous about, is that I have made a heap of changes to scripts. I did keep a record of those changes, but I'd love to be able to compare my record with the files that have been modified for this upgrade.
I can't fathom ultracompare out - with beyond compare I can check two folders and then skim through each file that has changed. That doesn't seem possible with ultracompare.
Bear in mind that you need to ignore the version number in every file.
if you are using the freebie version that comes with ultraedit, then i'll agree.
however folder compare with ultracompare is uber-easy and easier than beyond compare, imo. i especially like the 3-way compare option too.
i must admit that i was using UC first, didn't like all of it's features (was too lazy to really figure out how to do it properly). sooo i went to BC.... and liked it..
then i came back to UC, learned how to setup all the defaults and profiles and have never looked back.
Bear in mind that you need to ignore the version number in every file.
And the text below it which i could never get it to ignore so my first compare was hours long because of a blank line and commented out php tags or somthing.
Its done now so i hopefully wont have that palarver again, not the easiest program to get working out the box. But when you do have it "Set up" correctly its sweet
I have confidence in BC2 now

i guess it comes down to a preference thingie then. they both accomplish the goal of comparing root folders and spitting out recursive differences in files and i just ended up gravitating to UC in the end, as i was already using UE as my editing platform.
Basically the upgrade script will do this. You can just load the install directory and bring up the upgrade script in your browser, login and it will tell you all of the files that have been added, changed or removed.
Or, there is also just a text file called UPGRADE_CHANGES.txt in the install directory. This is just one big file that contains all changes for all versions.
Ive just noticed the gallery is working different? If you comment to a picture it come to the top / front of the gallery index, it wasn't doing that yesterday
Wonder if the gallery island will catch that too ?

5-22-2007: 7.2 Feature: Added new CSS classes to the Forum Summary properties. This will allow styles to be created where the rows will alternate color when listing topics in a forum. It also gives the ability to set properties for the rows that contain new topics/posts.

Rose, here's where I got mine from. There's two methods detailed if the first one doesn't work from your webhost not allowing it. You might also need to log into threadsdev.com if you can't see or download the attachments in that topic.
The funny thing about this thing is that vB can tell when a php script is pretending to be a .gif and it tells you it doesn't like it.
I don't know if this is a big deal but the green line doesn't extend all the way in the photo album. I've attached a pic with a red pin marking the location to explain.
This has probably been asked already but I couldn't find it anywhere.
With the photo gallery setup options.
Will it allow you to up the limit on how many photos users can upload at once?
From there, are you able to edit the posting to add even more?
In the old gallery that we ran in conjunction with this software, I was often times uploading a couple of hundred images into a single gallery. The 1-3 at a time is too time consuming and I just want to be sure I have other options.
Wow hundreds at a time eh! Well my guess is that no not in 7.2 but maybe in a future version. Though it might take some work as PHP/MySQL has time-out limits for scripts to run which I'm not sure if they would apply to a file transfer that is already under way.
The whole manager for that though to me... looks like it would need an overhaul to some degree to do that many, and then also you would want more folder control, creation as sooner or later the more images you have in a folder the slower the upload and download - i.e. viewing, will be.
You can adjust th elimit to how many you can upload in the control panel when you're assigning a forum as a gallery (or editing a gallery forum) on the main tab: Number of photos that can be attached to a post.
Things have been pretty quiet on the bug reports, so I'll probably get ready for the 7.2 final release. I know eventually we'll have a few bugs popping up, so we'll undoubtedly need a 7.2.1 at some point, but things seem very stable, so no sense in holding up 7.2 final much longer.

great, looking forward to it. Just spend a week in Portugal to catch up on daylight hours, now I can loose them again so things will be back to normal
Sorry we didn't get 7.2 final out yesterday, but this does allow me to fix a couple of bugs that were found at the very last minute. So, we'll try and get this out Monday.

Great version this 7.2 is. Lots of new stuff for those who have not been playing with the public beta.

Hello , Great to see 7.2 is finally out. Great job!
I wonder is it able to upgrade from 6.5.x to 7.2 directly ? (skip 7.1) And ... is the email problem solved ?

luckily Rick took care of the beta group so we have the last changed files list so upgrading should take all of 3 seconds between our final and public final lol...
It seems the new threads_import.zip hasn't been released , is it ?

I don't believe there was an update to the threads importer...
Does it mean that the table schema is un-modified ?

None of the importers needed any adjusting for this version. There are changes to the various tables, but nothing that caused any issues with the importers.
I never get e-mails from UBBC. My address is correct in my profile (Outlook spam filter set to stun, not kill) and I have opted to receive but I don't get newsletters, announcements or even PM notifications.

Possible problem with gallery subforums and marking forums read. Some of my members have complained that, when they double-click the new posts icon on a forum to mark all posts read, the new post indicator doesn't always stay out. I have gallery-type subforums under many of my main forums, and it seems if there are new image posts in any of these gallery sub-forums, then the ONLY way to mark the parent forum as read and have it stay marked, is to first go into the Gallery sub-forum and open each new gallery post (double-clicking the cameral icon does not seem to work the way double clicking the new-post icon does. Is there a way for a future release to allow double-click of teh main forum new-post icon would mark all subforum posts as read also?
Have one for NEW install and one for UPGRADE if this is so confusing for so many users I'd think that would maybe cut down on the amount of upgrade issues.
Have one for NEW install and one for UPGRADE if this is so confusing for so many users I'd think that would maybe cut down on the amount of upgrade issues.
We used to do this, but keep in mind two packages need to be maintained, which can get quite nasty if something "accidently" gets removed...
There are upgrade doc's in on the site and in the faq forum, it shouldn't be too hard to follow one of the methods displayed...
When i used classic i used to worry to hell at upgrade time?
In classic terms the upgrades were 6 months apart or so, and by that time you had lost any confidence in upgrading and began to search like crazy for any of youre own notes about the last upgrade and what to do in your own words so to speak.
Since then, ive got more involved and for me i am more confident with threads but still break it now and then lol...
The installer listing the files for upgrade really helps alot. And helps prevent problems.
If i was to be pickky i would like to see a standard txt file listing the modified files, just as a heads up before running the installer, i think that could help alot of peeps
IMO

Please no....
I use a billing solution, and they have separate upgrades to the full package, which is only intended for new installs.
One of the biggest problems is having to upgrade each install in turn, and also think about any modifications that have been done.
Much easier to import the changes locally and then upload all files.
The only 'upgrade' version that might be an idea is one without the includes etc., so that critical files can not be overwritten.
The only 'upgrade' version that might be an idea is one without the includes etc., so that critical files can not be overwritten.
that's what he's talking about; which i dislike, because then there could be "refreshes" for "accidently added files" (or removed); have seen it elsewhere with other products and it just causes more problems than what it's worth...
