Upgrading UBB.threadsThe upgrade path since UBB.threads version 7.5.6 continues to be to move to the most recent version of UBB.threads as they become available, such as 7.5.6 -> 8.0.0. There is no need to do an incremental update from 7.5.6 to 7.6.0 to 7.7.0 to 7.7.5 to 8.0.0...etc. You should update directly, to the most recent version of UBB.threads. This procedure is compatible with any version greater or equal to 7.5.6. For an older version, ask for help on the Community Support Forums. Please do check UBB.threads current Requirements. Especially if your PHP/MySQL configuration is NOT sufficient, do not go further as the upgrade process will fail. For routine incremental upgrades, refer to the UBB.threads Upgrade Guide for directions on how to proceed. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/download/Number/3526/filename/0.main.png) If you are upgrading from a version older than the last version, review any special instructions listed within the Upgrade Instructions (install/UPGRADE_INSTRUCTIONS.txt), from each version just above the version you are coming from. Normally there are no special instructions, or they may explain a new feature for you to configure. Special Upgrade Instructions for 8.0.0No Special Upgrade Instructions for upgrading from 7.7.5 to 8.0.0 General Upgrade NotesIf you have modified the software (modifications to stock code), we recommend using a file comparison tool such as Beyond Compare to ensure you are running the latest base software as a platform for your mods, where at all possible. If you are unsure about performing an upgrade or initial install (this is quite easy) on your own, UBBCentral has professional staff on hand to help you through this process. We offer professional install and upgrade services. Click to see your options.

Thank you for keeping UBBT alive and updated. I have downloaded it and will upgrade in a few days when time permits. I guess it’s like an ordinary upgrade and after it’s done one can update the PHP to version 8 as well. But before doing that it would probably be good to check the settings so it match 7.4. Speaking of PHP is there a recommendation from you so the PHP function works best with UBBT. Or should one just use the default settings? Anyway I’m really happy that UBBT ver 8 is available 🙏👍😄

The latest would be the latest available, 8.3 would be the fastest (and is what our last testing bed was)

you should be able to upgrade from any version of php7.2+, and probably (untested) are able to run the upgrader through php 5.4 at minimum.
but the lowest supported version for actually running UBBT 8.0 forum software is php 7.2

Now the question which I probably know If I am on pho 7.3 Do I upgrade to at least php 7.4 after uploading the update and before I run it Yes? Ruben, from experience I have had trouble sometimes when upgrading PHP. it turns out that some settings I did on to avoid trouble changed back when I upgraded to a newer PHP. From my novice knowledge I suggest that you move to PHP 7.4.33 or at least 7.4 before you upgrade to UBBT 8. My suggestion is a sort of qualified guess based on what I experienced.

php.ini contains your PHP config settings. if you are moving across different PHP major and point revisions, its possible that each version has its own php.ini file in its directory. such as php 7.2 and 7.3 are normally kept separate. https://www.php.net/manual/en/configuration.file.phpmany hosts may have another config file that takes your php settings and passes them to other php point revision updates. you may also be passing php settings along through an .htaccess file in an upper level directory. all of this is beyond the scope of conversation for this release of UBB.threads. google is your friend for further research, asking your host is also good advice

Most hosts today have a option in cpanel called multiphp editor Which gives you simple options to change php versions You just select the desired version and submit

Have been mostly away since Isaac started this thread. Soon I'll be available to do the upgrade myself. Have anyone we know so far done the upgrade? Except for Isaac and Gizmo. Would be cool to see it running elsewhere before I start working on it.

Upgrade to 8.0.0 was a dream for me - forum came right back up. Going to PHP 8.2 is a different issue per my other post.

Hey, I see that you guys are working on 8.0.1 a moment ago I reactivated my old twitter account now named X and I shared a post from my own 7.7.5 Britbike forum. That trigged me to check this forum using 8.0.1 and to my surprise I noticed that you have not change from twitter to X i the share option. see image it should read "X" not "Twitter" right? ![[Linked Image]](https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/download/Number/3541/filename/Skärmavbild 2024-09-23 kl. 12.17.13.jpg)

Cool cool! I was doing dome drive cleaning and watched ubbthreads zip files come by, and thought let's have a look at the ubbcentral again! Excited to see version 8 out, while we won't have an active forum anymore, I do have an active archive which was broken due to the host upgrading PHP. Guess what I will be doing this Christmas

Thank you Isaac I'm retired now, a little bored since it's too hot out. I thought I'd take a look and see what's been happening to ubb. I see it's in good hands.

Hi,
It has been a year since version 8.0.0 Then some had issues so I decided to wait until next patch/version were available. Noticed that ver 8.0.1 was used and then later on 8.1.0 so I looked forward to download from member area when available. It has not happened so clearly I wonder when/if it will be available. I know we are not supposed to ask these questions so just see this post as words floating around in this Swede's mind.. ride safe Morgan aka britbike admin

the versioning changed from 8.0.1 small patch, to 8.1.0 larger changes in the code. there should be a new release soon. i belive most all of the reported issues are now fixed, the assets and libraries will be curren again (to the date of its eventual release), and several other features with it

Thanks Isaac for the info, I need to move to a more modern platform and have hopes to be able to upgrade UBBthreads before doing that in November/December. We'll see what the future brings. Cheers.
