IT's odd that it's stopping like that, is your host by chance killing the apache process from your import? this could cause that, as the import can be semi hard on the server.
Ah, crap. Let me fire off an e-mail to them and explain what's going on.
I guess I figured doing it in the dead of the night, I'd avoid these issues. *sigh*
