You're assuming that he wants to sell. I wouldn't make that assumption.
Wanting to sell and should sell are two different issues. When I buy a business I know what's going on and have people in place. Who is doing the support work, writing code, adding new features, and fixing the remaining bugs in the current version? I think as users and those have have paid for current support/upgraded their memberships they have a right to know.
