Just moved our main 60GB database from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 onto a 2 Xeon DualCore system w/16GB RAM and SAS RAID1+0 from a Dual P4 SATA RAID5 system w/6GB RAM
Have now had 3 people come up and shake my hand and say thanks for the update. Used to take them 15 to 20 min to run some reports that they have to run often. Now runs in seconds.
Still have some items to look at for speeding it up more though but was first time in my IT Career that normal user came to my office and thanked me, that felt good.
