Yes what a pain, at least you have the drive still running well enough to copy data elsewhere.
I lost a 300GB drive a few weeks ago but only had about 80% of it backed up to another drive. Was working at night, came back the next morning and drive was dead. Not slow down, no clicking sounds, nothing, no errors in event viewer, it just DIED.
Tried recovery on another system but it would not come online Lost about 20% of the data due to me being slack on backing up my data.
Some times there just is no warning and that sucks even worse
